Parent Association: Fostering Community, Supporting Our School
The COFS Parent Association is a dynamic organization dedicated to supporting the school’s educational mission and fostering a vibrant and inclusive community among parents, faculty, and students.
Along with the Faculty, College of Teachers, Board of Directors, and Administration, Parent Association is one of the organizational bodies of the school. PA’s central sphere of influence is in the social (community) realm, serving as a venue for parents to actively participate, serve, and contribute to the functioning and organization of the school. By providing a solid and cohesive parent body, the PA supports the teacher/student relationship, the school’s work, and its mission. As an organizational body of the school, the Parent Association offers the parent perspective in relation to school governance and serves as a forum for parents’ ideas, inspirations, initiatives and concerns.
All parents are members of the Parent Association and are encouraged to participate. This year, the core PA consists of three co-chairs and one or two representatives from each class, serving as liaisons between Parent Association and their respective classes. All parents are entitled and welcome to attend any PA meeting or sponsored event and to contact their Class Rep or PA Leadership for any reason.
Parent Association meetings will be held monthly at school on second Mondays at 7:00 pm. This year, each meeting features a speaker or activity designed to engage and enrich the parents’ relationship with Waldorf-inspired education. The full 2024-25 Parent Association calendar can be found here for iCal and here for Google Calendar. Parents are also encouraged to join the Parents GroupMe to connect with other parents and learn about more casual or time-sensitive social and volunteer opportunities.
