The only Waldorf-inspired
school in Kansas City.

Nearly a century after Rudolf Steiner and Emil Molt opened the first Waldorf school, a large group of inspired families gathered in the heart of our country in the “City of Fountains”. What originated as a desire to create something small, based upon this timeless form of education, inevitably bloomed into a much larger endeavor- founding the first school inspired by Waldorf Education in Kansas City, and one of very few across the Midwest.

Through that first tireless year of work from 2011-12, the school’s leadership was honed into a small, focused group of multi-talented individuals who manifested a non-profit organization with a Board of Directors. We chose a name, City of Fountains School, and began as a single day parent-toddler, kindergarten and mixed-grades homeschool enrichment program in 2012.

Through over a decade’s worth of arduous and deeply fulfilling years we have blossomed into a full time school with a parent-child program, two kindergartens, and a program of first through eighth grades. We have also maintained our single day mixed-grades homeschool enrichment classes. The work of birthing this organization and growing community was possible through the service of well over a hundred families over the years.

Our school is now in its twelfth full year of operation with classes near full enrollment, daily inquiries from new families about what we offer and a rich community and festival life for our families.
