Faculty: The Heart of Teaching and Learning
At City of Fountains School, the Faculty Realm is the living heart of our school, carrying forth the pedagogical mission and nurturing the spiritual life of our community. With deep dedication and reverence for each child’s developmental journey, our teachers create rich, meaningful learning experiences that honor the whole child—head, heart, and hands.
Faculty members work directly with students and parents, guiding the day-to-day life of the classroom with warmth, creativity, and intentionality. They not only develop and implement the curriculum but also shape the rhythms and traditions that bring our school to life, from daily lessons to seasonal festivals. Their work extends beyond teaching; they cultivate a sense of wonder, curiosity, and belonging that allows students to feel truly seen, heard, and valued.
Collaboration is at the heart of our Faculty Realm. Each week, teachers meet with the Administration to discuss pedagogical decisions, ensuring that the school’s educational vision remains dynamic and responsive to the needs of the children. These meetings provide space for reflection, growth, and collective decision-making on important topics such as student life, faculty hiring, and professional development. Our Lead Administrator, as both a faculty and administrative member, plays a key role in bridging these realms, ensuring that the school’s mission is upheld across all aspects of our community.
As lifelong learners themselves, our faculty members engage in continuous professional development, mentorship, and self-reflection. Monthly anthroposophy study meetings, mentorship opportunities, and ongoing training help teachers deepen their understanding of Waldorf education and refine their craft. Through this dedication to growth, our faculty ensures that the education they offer remains both inspired and inspiring.
With a steadfast commitment to the well-being and development of each child, our faculty members carry the light of Waldorf education with care, wisdom, and joy. They embody the school’s mission not only in the lessons they teach but in the relationships they build and the community they nurture.
