Enrichment

The City of Fountains grades enrichment program offers homeschooling families a sample of education inspired by the Waldorf approach. The lower, middle and upper grades classes meet every Friday from 9-1pm and each follows a daily rhythm inspired by Waldorf of morning circle and verse, movement, with main lessons and daily outdoor time to follow.

Lower Grades

The lower grades enrichment program is for children 6 to 7-years old. City of Fountains observes the warm learning environment inspired by Waldorf education and is a gentle transition from Kindergarten. The lower grades curriculum is rich with nature stories and folk tales. There is strong emphasis on seasons and festivals. We are outdoors during all seasons. Movement and group games are always a favorite! Each week a story, puppet play or table play are given. Once a month, the students cook a seasonal treat in the morning and then enjoy it together in the afternoon.

Middle & Upper Grades

The middle grades program is for children ages 8-9 and the upper grades is for children 10-12 (although some exceptions may be made for older children that remain engaged and interested in the class material). We will have regularly scheduled field trips that follow along with our main lessons which will cover such topics as paper making, drawing, painting, botany, zoology, Native Americans/primitive skills, clay sculpture, puppetry, theater and more.

We ask that you send your children along with a daily snack and weather appropriate clothing as we will be going outdoors daily.

Some families choose to enroll their child in our 1st-8th Grades program Monday through Thursday, as well as the enrichment program on Fridays, which creates a 5-day school week.
